To get a Class 1 HGV licence in UK, you need to obtain a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence, which is a professional driving qualification (CPC). If you are choosing this path for the first time, then you must complete some of the requirements. These are the following:

  • Apply for a provisional HGV or bus licence.
  • Pass the 5 tests as well as the Driver CPC to qualify.
  • Take 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to stay qualified.

Once you've followed all the above steps as per the government guidelines then you can easily get the Class 1 HGV licence.
